I’m an Australian-born artist and designer based in the United States. For more than 25 years, I’ve worked in brand, UX and product design—disciplines built around making deliberate decisions, creating clarity and knowing what to take away.

Painting asks something different of me.

In the studio, I’m interested in the point where clarity starts to become certainty—and whether the painting actually needs it.

I work in mixed media, building and obscuring, refining and disrupting. Figures emerge. Marks disappear. Some things come sharply into focus while others are allowed to remain unresolved.

That push and pull between intention and instinct is where the work gets interesting for me.

Some things become clearer when you stop trying to define them.

I don’t paint to explain an idea I’ve already figured out. Painting is where I find out what I think—often by resisting the urge to make everything make sense.

My fine art practice developed through the Milan Art Institute Mastery Program, and I was a finalist on The Outstanding Artist (Season 2). Alongside my studio practice, I continue to work in design and currently serve as Product Director at Milan Art Institute, where I also advise graduate artists through the Society of Professional Artists (SOPA).

Artist Statement

I move between intention and instinct.

Some paintings begin with a subject—a bird, a face, a form. Others begin with color and marks, without knowing where they’ll lead.

I’m interested in what happens when the painting pushes back against the plan: when something unexpected appears, when a carefully rendered form asks to be obscured, or when a mark is better left alone.

I’m learning not to resolve a painting simply because I can.
